When a friend takes his own life, it makes you question what anything is for, really. It is in the process of that questioning that I wrote Surrender because, while one friend was dead, another was telling me that I needed to be careful and deliberately conscious about the messages I put out there through my music. Because, you just never know whose life you're saving, or worse still, whose life you're helping to end.
